Well it is vaguely possible since Apple did in fac create one of the first digital cameras ever a QuickTake 150 or something. Anyway this new idea comes from some story in a seriously LARGE pdf document from iLounge ipad buyers guide.
Read on to see what else might be in the offers of this speculation...
OK the gist of it is of some mutterings about that Apple may be thinking about it, like well of course Apple thinks about this sort of thing, they think about alls sorts of tech stuff. The only mildly interesting thing is the mention of a something called a light field camera technology , currently developed by lytro. Very basically this camera is able to take a photo of EVERYTHING with a certain field of view. Then you can choose the focus of the section you feel is important. Hmm, seriously? for some cases this is cool but mostly it might be for uncoordinated shooters.
Although a camera from Apple would be nice, it might have cool features like being SIMPLE to use and be able to upload images direct to the iCould or your iphone or something. AHHH what about the iphone, isn't that a damn camera? May be they can get ACTUAL optical zoom on the camera. Well it's fun to speculate.
See the ravings at macrumors too
